Blancpain

Blancpain claims the distinction of being the world's oldest watch brand still in existence, tracing its founding to 1735 when Jehan-Jacques Blancpain established a workshop in Villeret in the Swiss Jura. The brand's motto — "Since 1735, there has never been a quartz Blancpain watch. And there never will be" — is a statement of mechanical watchmaking faith that resonates deeply with collectors who value traditional horology. Blancpain's most important commercial contribution is the Fifty Fathoms, introduced in 1953 as one of the world's first modern dive watches — co-developed with the French Navy's combat divers, it predates the Rolex Submariner and incorporates defining dive watch features including the unidirectional rotating bezel and moisture indicators. Pre-owned Fifty Fathoms references, from vintage military-issued examples to the current-generation Bathyscaphe, are among the most historically significant dive watches in the secondary market. The Villeret collection houses Blancpain's most refined dress complications, including perpetual calendars, tourbillons, and split-seconds chronographs. The L-Evolution sports-complication family rounds out the portfolio. DeMesy & Co. in Dallas has been sourcing and authenticating pre-owned Blancpain watches since 1987.
