Roadster

The Cartier Roadster, produced from 2002 to approximately 2012, was Cartier's most explicitly automotive-inspired watch, designed to channel the instruments of classic sports cars through a cushion-shaped case with an integrated rubber or steel bracelet and a dial layout reminiscent of a vintage speedometer. The Roadster's distinctive feature is the continuation of the dial's Arabic numeral chapter ring onto the caseback — a detail visible through the transparent sapphire display — creating a unique 360-degree design element. The model was produced in a range of configurations including steel with rubber strap, full steel bracelet, yellow gold, and chronograph variants, as well as the elongated Roadster S and XL proportions. Pre-owned Roadster references represent a somewhat underappreciated chapter in Cartier history, with secondary market prices generally below the brand's more canonical designs — making them interesting value propositions for collectors drawn to the sports-casual aesthetic. The automatic versions house Cartier's caliber 049, a solid workhorse movement. The Roadster is no longer in production, meaning pre-owned examples are the only path to ownership. DeMesy & Co. in Dallas has authenticated and sourced pre-owned Cartier Roadster references since their production years.
