Tank MC

The Cartier Tank MC — where MC stands for Manufacture Contemporaine — was introduced in 2012 as Cartier's statement of contemporary watchmaking ambition within the Tank lineage, housing an in-house mechanical automatic movement beneath a boldly scaled Tank case. The Tank MC is larger and more three-dimensional than its predecessors, with a 44.6 mm by 34.7 mm case that gives it a strong presence on the wrist while remaining true to the rectangular Tank architecture. The movement, caliber 1904-PS MC, is a Cartier Manufacture automatic with a 48-hour power reserve, visible through the sapphire caseback. Pre-owned Tank MC references in steel, pink gold, and steel with rose gold accents are the most frequently encountered on the secondary market. The MC's combination of Manufacture-movement credibility and modern scale attracted a younger collector audience to the Tank family, bridging the gap between Cartier's heritage dress watch aesthetic and a contemporary appetite for presence and mechanical substance. The tank MC is considered a significant chapter in Cartier's modern watchmaking story. DeMesy & Co. in Dallas has been sourcing and authenticating pre-owned Tank MC references since their introduction, with nearly four decades of Cartier expertise supporting every evaluation.
