Pasha de Cartier

The Cartier Pasha is one of the brand's most architecturally bold and historically colorful designs, originating in the 1930s when Louis Cartier reportedly created a waterproof watch for the Pasha of Marrakesh — a swimming enthusiast who required a timepiece capable of accompanying him in the pool. The modern commercial Pasha was introduced in 1985 as a round-case watch with a distinctive chained crown cap that protects the winding crown when screwed down, a design detail that is both functional and visually engaging. The Pasha's case features a prominent square display on the dial and an Arabic numeral chapter ring that gives it a personality quite unlike any other Cartier model. Produced in steel, yellow gold, white gold, and two-tone versions, the Pasha has housed both quartz and automatic movements including complications such as the power reserve and chronograph. Pre-owned Pasha references from the 1990s and 2000s, including the 38 mm automatic, are widely available and represent a distinctive entry into Cartier's rounded case designs. The Pasha was relaunched in 2020 with updated sizing and a new Manufacture movement option. DeMesy & Co. in Dallas has been a trusted dealer of pre-owned Pasha de Cartier references since 1987.
